Heigh-Ho Heigh-Ho off to Preschool Lucas goes!

Lucas just wrapped up his second week of preschool! He is attending Kids at the Creek, which is a small preschool just blocks from our house at a local community church. He is in Mrs. Pawley's class in the Train Room. It could not be a more perfect fit for Lucas. Much to our surprise he has embraced going to school with little hesitation and lots of confidence.
The night before preschool we went to orientation. The little preschoolers practiced lining up, reading a story, and playing with toys! It made for a great transition the next morning. Daddy dropped him off and assured him he would be back to get in him two short hours. He choo-chooed off to class and never looked back.
Daddy and Mimi surprised him at pick up. They brought him straight to my school to have lunch with me and share about his day. He made a painting with marbles, read Brown Bear again, sang Do Your Ears Hang Low, and had recess in the gym playing with balls. The only two names he remembered were Austin and Sami. He did not want to talk much about it...but would answer questions if asked.
He attends class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Each day he comes home with more information and stories. He seems to be making friends, enjoying art (stamping, painting, and cutting), of course playing with cars, trains, and balls, and learning new things. He came home the other day saying he lives in Mill Creek, which is in Washington.
Lucas is an amazing little boy! We feel so blessed to have a little boy that is going to love going to school each day as much as his mommy! He knows most of his letters, loves books, and we are SLOWLY working on writing his name. He has many, many, many years of school left and we hope they continue to be as positive as the last two weeks.

Christmas Day!

Lucas was thrilled to wake up Christmas morning to find Santa granted his wish of leaving a skateboard under the tree! I never would have thought that a 3 year old could do much with a skateboard, but let me tell you...he can not only ride it, he pivots and rotates. We had a fairly relaxing day with Mimi! We picked up Drue in the late afternoon and the Olsen's came over in the evening for dinner. It was a magical day!

Christmas Eve in Downtown Seattle!

We had a special Christmas Eve this year! We woke up to clear blue skies and sunshine, but the air was crisp. Lucas started off the day by opening the last day on his advent calendar. He had been saying for weeks that he was going to open his presents when all the chocolates were gone. We then headed downtown with Nana and Papa. We rode the monorail, took a ride on the carousel, went on a horse drawn carriage ride, and looked at the amazing Gingerbread houses at the Sheraton. From Seattle we went to Lynnwood for dinner at the Black Angus, and then wrapped up the night opening presents at home.
