Mother's Day in Vancouver, BC

For Mother's Day weekend we grabbed our passports and headed for the border! We spent two days seeing the sights of Vancouver. We started by exploring the Greater Vancouver Zoo. It is not nearly as nice as the Woodland Park Zoo, but there was some different animals and fun tours. We rode the train all through the park, then took a guided bus tour to see the bears and Canadian wolves. The highlight was seeing the tigers and lions get hand fed.
After leaving the zoo we headed to our hotel on Robson Street in downtown Vancouver. We took a long walk down the piers. We saw all sorts of seaplanes, cruise ships, and boats. We ate a late lunch outside on the water. After some shopping we went for milkshakes and watched the Canucks in the playoffs. Wow, was it loud and wild!!!
We woke up on Mother's Day and had breakfast on the water, before heading to the aquarium in Stanley Park. It was wonderful!!! We HIGHLY recommend anyone traveling to BC to check it out. They have lots of fish, sharks, and other aquatic animals, but the dolphins and beluga whales are over the top. We watched two beluga training sessions, and an amazing, high flying dolphin show.
We then took some more time checking out Stanley Park. They is so much to do and see, really you need several days. We took a train ride, went to the playground, discovered a petting zoo, and then took a scenic drive around the park.
We can't wait to go back in the future! So much to do, see, and Vancouver is super kid friendly!
On the train in the Greater Vancouver Zoo.
Little Engineer!
As Lucas puts it, "lion's eat nasty meat".
Watching Seaplanes leave the Vancouver Harbour. We ate dinner at a fabulous Brewery right on the water.

The view from our hotel balcony.
We watched the Canucks play in the Stanley Cup playoffs with a bunch of hockey crazy Canadians.
Vancouver Aquarium in Stanley Park!

They have a baby beluga, and another one due in June. Did you know that baby beluga's are grey, not white?
The dolphin show is breathtaking!

We went on the miniature train through Stanley Park. SO FUN!

Tulips, Tulips, and MORE Tulips!!!

We decided to celebrate Mother's Day a little early with Grandma Meg. She came up for a breakfast cooked by chef Si, and then we headed to Tulip Town for the day. We rode on a tractor, wandered through the tulip fields, and took lots of pictures. After all the fun we headed into La Conner for lunch. We ate at Si's favorite fish n' chip place right on the water. We watched the sea planes take off, the boats go by, and enjoyed some time in the sun. We wrapped up the day we an ice cream cone! What FUN!

Mukilteo Beach!

Last Sunday we wanted to spend the evening enjoying the sun, so we packed up the boys and headed for the beach. We grabbed some Ivar's by the water, and ate at a picnic while watching the seals. It is SO nice to have the sun back in Washington!
MMM....nothing like fish by the water.
Boys love to throw rocks in the water at every age (Yes, Si was even in on the action).

That one made a BIG splash!
